Just a lew words on 'Fellow man'. I set off for Australia in August 2007 for a series of concerts. I took with me a working title for the album, a few notes on final lyrics and a rough idea of the running order. While in Sydney I met with Andrew Hogarth who took me to meet Uncle Max Eulo at a ceremony in St Mary's Cathedral. When I was introduced to Uncle Max his words to me were 'You've come a long way', these are the opening lines to 'Fellow man' and I realised then that I had a title for the album. Other song titles: 'I want' sounds selfish but has a lyric many of us would agree with, in an ideal world all of us would be surrounded by lots and lots of love. A song that came about thanks to a piece of software called Atmosphere is 'I've been here before' it's not as sinister as it sounds and more to do with drinking too much alcohol. 'You and I' the lyric was finished in Australia and was the final song recorded for this album. 'You' is a birthday song for Mary completed on the 21st of June. 'Give me a sign' written in Spain 2005 and included on the David Paton and friends CD. 'Fellow man' it's all in the lyric and I always wanted to write a song about this subject, it's not all doom and gloom, we do live on a beautiful planet. 'Crazy' I don't believe in trying to impress others with exaggerated statements, better to just tell it like it is. 'Heaven' is dedicated to Cousin Evelyn, sadly no longer with us. It's no secret, I'm a big Prince fan and 'I'm gonna make you happy' shows how much I like his music. 'Across the Oceans' this is a song about travelling and feeling lucky to see so much of the world and other cultures.l enjoy quality as opposed to quantity and try to achieve the best quality in my music and playing without over polishing everything, spontaneity and the flash of inspiration can be lost with a clinical approach. I've worked with people who spend days on getting 'the right snare drum sound', not for me, the right sound and playing the right part is important, but if it's not there within 15 minutes, I'll move on. Many songs were considered and rejected for this album, some of them might evolve and be used at a later time, for now, I'm happy to release this collection as my album for 2007.1 hope that it is enjoyed for what it is. - David Paton
