Через год последовал High Havoc, саундтрек к выдуманному фильму, композиции из которого "Something In My Eye", "The Frighteners" и "London England" заняли верхние строчки британских чартов. Вскоре после выхода Out Of Here в 1994 Corduroy разошлись с Acid Jazz Records и после длительного перерыва, наконец, начали сотрудничество с американской студией Big Cat, на которой выпустили свои последующие CD - The New You и Clik!

Corduroy Biography From Wikipedia
The self-dubbed "fabric four" primarily recorded in a film soundtrack style, and many of their tracks were instrumentals. On the release of their first album Dad Man Cat, Paul Moody wrote in the New Musical Express: “Whereas the rest of the Acid Jazz roster fidget around in a world of skinny ribbed roll-necks comparing sideburn growth, Corduroy manage to swagger through the same po-faced domain with a couldn’t-care-less braggadocio... Corduroy have got their collective tongue stuck firmly in someone else’s cheek here and it feels staggeringly good.”
Releasing three albums on Eddie Piller's Acid Jazz Records, they received radio airplay for their single "Something In My Eye" in 1993, but national chart success evaded them, although several singles from their 1993 album High Havoc charted in the UK Independent Chart. Their 1994 album, Out of Here, reached number 73 in the UK Albums Chart.
They remained a popular live attraction, particularly on the college circuit. They also gained a healthy following in Japan, making the first of several trips to the country in 1993, and the following year they recorded a live album, Quattro - Live In Japan. After leaving Acid Jazz Records they signed to Big Cat Records, releasing two further albums: The New You! (April 1997) and the Rob Playford produced Clik! (August 1999). But when they discovered that their record label, Big Cat, had been dropped by parent company V2, Corduroy decided to split up.
Corduroy reformed and played two sell-out nights at the Jazz Cafe in Camden, London, on 16 and 17 June 2007. Searle is not involved with the new incarnation of the band, now working under the name of Corduroy Industries. The latest news on their Myspace site states that they have completed an album of Motown covers.

Corduroy Biography From All Music Guide
The acid jazz outfit Corduroy assembled singer/keyboardist Scott Addison, his drummer brother Ben, guitarist Simon Nelson-Smith, and bassist Richard Searle (a former member of '80s one-hit wonders Doctor & the Medics). Formed from the ashes of the short-lived Brit-pop group Boys Wonder, Corduroy played their first gig -- a one-off New Year's Eve date -- in 1991; the performance proved so successful that its members agreed to continue on full-time, soon signing to the Acid Jazz label and issuing their debut LP, the largely instrumental Dad Man Cat, in 1992. High Havoc -- the soundtrack to an imaginary film -- followed a year later, launching the U.K. Top Ten hits "Something in My Eye," "The Frighteners," and "London, England." In the wake of 1994's Out of Here, however, Acid Jazz dropped Corduroy from its roster; after a long hiatus, the group finally landed on the Big Cat label, where they resurfaced in 1997 with The New You! ~ Jason Ankeny

1992 Dad Man Cat
В основном, он инструментальный (группу даже назвали "Booker T And The MG's эпохи постмодерна").

Amazon.co.uk Review
The stylish debut album by Corduroy, an instrumental quartet obsessed with vintage spy movie soundtracks and TV show themes, is a stellar swirl of wah-wah guitars, funky bass lines, and jazz-house beats. Dad Man Cat owes equal debt to the experimental wit of electric Miles Davis and the gritty audio imagery of Ennio Morricone. "The Girl Who Was Death" is typical of the band's sonic breadth, opening with resonating percussion and falling into lush organ- and guitar-driven groove. "Ponytail", meanwhile, showcases a more laid-back approach, with the sound of hand claps and groaning rounding out the song's vibe. Perfect for any home where shag carpeting and lava lamps set the style. --Aidin Vaziri

  1993 High Havoc

Description (cduniverse.com)
UK remastered reissue of their second Acid Jazz LP from 1993 was 'A Concept Album' on which 'Corduroy Create High Havoc' on a mock-soundtrack. Echoes of Our Man Flint mix with Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush to create a more unified sound than their debut - which also embraced lush, jazzy vocal tracks like the club hit single, 'Something In My Eye' (with shades of Sergio Mendes creeping into the mix). Includes new liner-notes from the band, rare sleeves, photo's, memorabilia & six bonus tracks, '10.28 From Shibuya' & five recorded live in Japan, 'High Havoc', 'The Frighteners', 'Something In My Eye', 'London England' & 'The Corduroy Orgasm Club'. 2001 release.

1994 Out Of Here
Black Sabbath).

Out of Here is the third album released by London-based acid jazz band Corduroy, in 1994.
Moving on from the movie soundtrack feel of previous albums, this recording features Hammond-driven songs and instrumentals with simpler arrangements. Mini was released as a single and has been included on several acid jazz compilation albums. The album closes with a cover of Lemmy's Motorhead, complete with all the "fabric four" trademarks. The Allmusic review awards this album with 3 stars."

1997 The New You!

Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Corduroy isn't anything if they're not about style, and The New You is their finest creation to date. Working from the same acid-jazz foundation that informed their previous records, the band has added slightly ironic flourishes of lounge music and movie soundtracks while beginning to develop a sophisticated sense of pop craft, largely modeled after Steely Dan. Portions of The New You sag under the group's own pretensions, but most of the record is endearingly kitschy, smooth and stylish.

1999 Clik! (Big Cat)

Final album, Clik!, which was much more electronic oriented than their previous efforts. I had always heard various cinematic elements in Corduroy's tunes, but never so much as in Clik! From the sweeping strings and drum n' bass of "Paddy and Kier", to the spy-chase theme of "The Addison Tapes", Corduroy conveys to the listener the sense of being not only in a different place, but in a different persona altogether. Clik! even manages to be a little playful, especially on the opener "Moshi Moshi", and on the infectious house/disco beat of "Thing For Your Love"...as cheesy as it is, I can't stop listening to it. The other songs on the disc are just as good. The only real problem the album has is that it may actually be TOO diverse for many listeners, as the group covers several genres all in around the space of an hour...which can be difficult to deal with if you aren't open-minded enough. One has to realize, too, that Corduroy alienated many of its fans when it changed (both out of necessity and in the spirit of artistic experimentation) its sound....which may have led to the the last two album's "failures" and the group's split (though I hear they LOVE them in Japan). Still, this is a great album...and one that will unfortunately be passed over by too many. Except for me, of course...I'll be singing (in my cheesiest lounge voice) "I've got a thing for your love" for the next decade or two.

2001 London, England (2 CD Set)

Review by Jon "Mojo" Mills (allmusic)
Encompassing the band's seven-year career, London, England takes in the entirety of the first three albums, a few single sides, and a sampling of the final two albums. That's 40 tracks of acid jazz. Debut album Dead Man Cat led the way in the early '90s for a love of all things Hammond and groovy. Yes, when the James Taylor Quartet had veered toward commercial contemporary soul, Corduroy focused on the 1960s soundtrack vibe (that unfortunately everyone now associates with Austin Powers). This was 1992 though, and their love of filmic music was ahead of the trend. Dead Man Cat is magnificent and reeks of everything fascinating about late-'60s and early-'70s movie scoring: Hammond, bongos, fuzz guitar galore. And the thing is it's not ironic. Corduroy plainly loves this music and recreates the atmosphere and sound with ease. The second album, although a cheeky parody of a late-'60s swinging London movie's soundtrack (the band wrote the music around an imagined scenario) is again far beyond plagiarism and ably captures the mood and feel of the era. The opening sequence "High Havoc" is peppered with funky electric piano and the type of fuzzy lead guitar that the De Wolfe Association favored (a company that supplied the majority of the incidental music heard in late '60 British films). Mental images of an E-Type Jaguar roaring across Battersea Bridge are inescapable. From there on the soundtrack takes off, and it really does work. It's all there, and perfectly created too. By the time of the third album, Out of Here, released in 1994, the band had tired of the instrumental-only label and experimented with a vocal orientated approach. Although they sang wonderfully, other than the comical take on hard rock monstrosity, "Motorhead," the album just wasn't as fun as their earlier efforts and far closer to contemporary acid jazz-styled acts the Brand New Heavies and Jamiroqui than their previous releases. 1997's "Evolver" taken from The New You album made a move toward early-'70s prog rock, not unlike Todd Rundgren; however, by 1999, the Clik album attempted to cross over into dance music, and although bearing the fun cinematic trademark of the "Corduroy of old" doesn't successfully work. Some things are just better the traditional way. This is a brilliant collection, because what it does so well is compile the band's greatest moments chronologically, while skimming over the lesser moments. Not only is this an ideal introduction, it's all anybody needs by Corduroy.
